  • Justin Deimen
    Justin DeimenGroup Managing Partner & Head, Aurora Capital

    Justin is the head of Aurora’s investment and financing arm. Previously, he worked for Hyde Park Imagenation, VH1, Fox Searchlight, The Village Voice and the International Film Festival Rotterdam before returning to Singapore to produce award-winning social welfare broadcast documentaries and narrative feature films with a global perspective. He has since worked with UBS and Pictet & Cie in Singapore to structure viable alternative asset funds for factoring and gap financing of media projects around Asia for various platforms and philanthropic causes. He is a co-founder of the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), a non-profit network seeking to unify media producers, creative entreprenuers, and investors around ASEAN, and is also a member of the EAVE network of European producers. Most recently, Justin co-founded the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum, the region’s biggest media financing platform that engages and educates stakeholders from both the creative and financial sectors in developing modern modes of entertainment financing.

    • Terence Kong
      Terence KongGroup Managing Partner & Head, Lifestyle Concepts

      Aurora co-founder Terence brings extensive advisory experience and a sterling reputation from his background in the financial services industry. He has held key operational roles in developing, implementing and supervising distribution strategies for financial products in Singapore and Southeast Asia. This veteran of the entertainment scene brings a distinctive edge to Aurora’s lifestyle concepts, influenced by his formative teenage years bartending in the gritty urban underbelly. He is the executive producer of “100 Yards”, the American football drama helmed by award-winning director Dale Fabrigar. An alumnus of the Anglo-Chinese School and Raffles Institution, Terence’s other business interests includes the restaurant “Momma Kong’s” (tabbed by Lonely Planet to have Singapore’s “best chilli crab”) and the bistro “3O1 Bar & Kitchen” (which he owns together with the popular actor and incorrigible good guy Pierre Png). In his free time, he enjoys going sailing with his kids and taking his jacked-up Landrover into the jungles of Malaysia.

      • Jeremy Sim
        Jeremy SimGroup Managing Partner & Head, Special Projects

        Singapore-born and Berlin-based, Jeremy tracks innovation in the fields of finance, media, biotech and geopolitics. Previously, he was head of knowledge management at Asia’s largest financial intelligence firm, his portfolio clients included the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank. Before that, he was chief project manager of the European Commission’s industrial innovation network for Nordic Europe and the UK, leading partner institutions such as Innovation Norway and the Helsinki School of Economics. He co-produced “The Eco-Warriors”, a 2016 TV series about environmental activists in Borneo, directed by Emmy nominee Cathy Henkel. He also produced the 2016 documentary “A Refugees Journey”, directed by Afghan refugee and TED speaker Barat Ali Batoor. He was Phi Beta Kappa and a Thayer Scholar at Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management, and a contributing writer to “Making Money, Making Meaning: Directions for the Arts and Cultural Industries in the Creative Age”, published by Cambridge Scholars’ Press.

          Kathy Morgan has been involved in the international sales and distribution of motion pictures and television programs for more than three decades. In 1983, Morgan joined Hemdale Film Corporation as head of worldwide sales for its 186-title film library that included Platoon, The Last Emperor, The Terminator and Salvador. In 1992, she founded Kathy Morgan International (KMI) specializing in the worldwide sales, distribution, marketing and financing of theatrical motion pictures. Kathy Morgan is the Executive Producer of The Danish Girl starring Eddie Redmayne and Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander and directed by Tom Hooper. She was also the former Chairman of the Independent Film and Television Alliance.

          • Jean-Baptiste Babin
            Jean-Baptiste BabinFounding Partner & Head of Co-Productions - Backup Media Group

            Jean-Baptiste co-founded Backup Media in 2002, which has since become one of the leading film financing agencies in Europe specializing in cross-border finance packaging and consultancy. The company operates several investment vehicles providing development, production and distribution funding, focusing on international independent and animation productions. Jean-Baptiste is a law graduate from King’s College, London and La Sorbonne, Paris, as well as an MBA graduate from ESSEC business school, Paris. He started his career in the corporate finance department of the US law firm Sullivan & Cromwell and the UK law firm Allen & Overy, before heading the business & legal affairs at French production company Elzevir Films.

              Anix is the CEO of Globa, a cross border fintech startup that allows non-English speaking lenders in Asia to securely co-invest with institutional capital in commercial real estate debt financing. She spent 16 years in Japan working with top GPs in private equity (MGPA-BlackRock, NCC). Before moving to SF in 2015, she was VP of Business Intelligence for Magnolia Quality Development Corp., where she pioneered the concept of True Innovation Park, Thailand’s flagship award-winning science park. She led multi-million acquisition and strategic alliances of socially disruptive companies that provide solutions for elder welfare, food shortage, and social innovation. She has a BA from Japan and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

              • Thomas Choong

                Dr Thomas Choong is an investor and strategic advisor, predominantly in the technology space. He was an early investor of Brandtology, which was acquired and renamed iSentia prior to a successful IPO in 2014. Other companies he has advised include Golden Equator Capital, Thierry Apoteker Consulting, Elipva, Ohanae, Kidotech, ArrowCrest Technologies, and the Singapore Sports Hub. From 2000 to 2007, he managed several tech startups in Asia with investments from ST Telemedia and the Lippo Group. Thomas served on the board of M Dream Inworld, a HK listed company with a focus on online gaming for the Chinese market and also co-founded multiple award-winning Xi Yan, Southeast Asia’s first contemporary Chinese private dining restaurant.

                  Gin Kai founded Silver Media Group to explore new frontiers in media content creation, specializing in executive producing and media financing. He currently runs one of Asia’s few privately managed media investment funds that finances film and TV content for international audiences. The company believes in social responsibility, using the power of media to inspire a better world. Gin Kai co-founded the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), an alliance that seeks to unify film producers from around the region to stimulate exchange of skills and collaborations. As one of the region’s few film financing experts, Gin Kai has been invited to speak at various industry conferences, and educational and financial institutions about this alternative investment sector.
